▪ Learners in these grades are prepared for the internal "Check Point Nine" examination which has since replaced the government Junior Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination, the latter no longer being an entry qualification into Grade Ten at LICEF. The "Check Point Nine" examination is held at the end of Grade Nine.
▪ All the learners in these years study the following subjects:

▪ Learners in these grades are groomed in two or three years, (depending on the learner's ability, especially the boys), for the Cambridge International Examinations (Ordinary Level), which is offered in the October/November sitting and is a stepping stone either for tertiary education or is a pre-requisite for A-levels. Subjects from which a choice is offered, are:
▪ English Language ▪ English Literature ▪ Mathematics ▪ Physics ▪ Chemistry ▪ Physical Science ▪ Biology ▪ Principles of Accounts ▪ Commerce ▪ Information Technology ▪ History ▪ Geography ▪ Islamiyaat (non-Muslims are offered suitable alternatives or do supervised prep) ▪ Arabic (non-Muslims are offered suitable alternatives or do supervised prep)
▪ There are separate science laboratories and libraries for each section, the library being the school’s text book center. ▪ Assembly is held daily for both boys and girls in separate halls for approximately ten minutes. ▪ Sporting activities are held once in a week, with learners choosing from either outdoor or indoor sports, such as football, badminton, netball, squash, table tennis, volleyball, etc. This is incorporated on the timetable as "club activities". LICEF is fortunate to have use of the various sporting facilities offered by Metropolitan Sports Club with whom the school has a memorandum of understanding.
