You are here    >    Home Page    >    Information    >    EXAMINATIONS

Examinations conducted at the school are of two types: the internal examinations and the external examinations.

Internal Examinations

▪ This includes (a) 'End-of-Term' examinations and (b) 'End-of-Year' examinations

(a) 'End-of-Term' Examinations

▪ These are administered at the end of each term. They are conducted in an atmosphere similar to the final examinations. Examination papers are prepared at the beginning of the term and by the end of the term, these are  ready for the learners.  The results are entered onto the report forms which are given to the parents on 'Open Day'.  Results for each examinations are analysed and the results communicated to the teachers for future planning.

(b) 'End-of-Year' Examinations

These are similar to end-of-term examinations but contain material from the year's work. They are written when the final-year learners are writing the final public or international examinations.

'End-of-Year' examinations include the 'Check Point 7' Examinations which is offered to the Grade 7's for purposes of promotion to Grade 8.  The school neither considers nor offers the GRZ Grade 7 Examinations for entry into its Grade 8.

▪ The other 'End-of-Year' examinations is the 'Check Point 9' Examinations which is offered to the Grade 9's for purposes of promotion to Grade 10.

▪ Both these check point examinations are conducted with the security and seriousness that any

examination warrants.

External Examinations

▪ There are basically two kinds of external examinations conducted in the school .

▪ This includes the Grade 9 Junior Secondary School Leaving Examinations (JSSLE).  This is a Public Examination administered by the Examinations Council of Zambia and invigilation is done by external staff.  It is administered at LICEF for certification purposes only and is not compulsory.  It is a service provided by LICEF for those learners who may want to join other schools as of Grade 10 for whatever reason.  LICEF does not use these examinations as a basis for promotion to its Grade 10.

▪ The other External Examination is the University of Cambridge GCE '0' Level International Examinations.  This is written by the ‘O’ Level learners in Grade 11/12, i.e. two or three years after writing the 'Check Point 9' Examinations. The school conducts the examination with periodic impromptu inspection by University of Cambridge staff.  This overseas university sends the examinations papers to the school and after these are administered, the examination papers are sent back to University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate for marking.

The school will not tolerate any form of malpractice at  both  the internal or external examinations.   Any learner found compromised in any way will be liable to an action as per governing regulations of the school's disciplinary code and that of  the Examination Council of Zambia.
